Trips: The Adirondacks
White Pine Camp, located on the shore of Osgood Pond in New York’s Adirondacks region, was built in 1908 by New York banker Archibald White and has had several owners, including Paul Smith’s College. It was visited by the rich and famous over the years, and in 1926 it was the Summer White House for Calvin Coolidge, the 30th president of the United States.
Despite being tucked deep into the woods, its facilities include a bowling alley, tennis court, a Japanese tea house, as well as a beach and boathouse, all in the Adirondack camp style of architecture.
We visited over Memorial Day Weekend in 2017, with our son, Ben, his fiancé Caroline, her parents, and my sister-in-law, Suzanne.
