About
Patrick is the founder and project lead at Modus Operandi Design. Originally from Texas, he studied graphic design at Ole Miss and cut his media teeth at Chris Whittle’s groundbreaking custom content firm Whittle Communications in Knoxville, Tennessee.
After three years in the newspaper business at the Dallas Morning News and Detroit Free Press, he jumped at the opportunity to head to New England to collaborate with design legend Hans Teensma at Billboard’s Musician magazine.
He caught the startup bug in Boston where he spearheaded the creative direction for Fast Company and Inc. magazines for eight years, and was awarded two National Magazine Awards for the effort. (He also got to work with his hero, Pentagram partner Paula Scher). Fast Company was one of the most successful media launches in history.
Since then Patrick has lead creative teams at Nylon, O: The Oprah Magazine, National Geographic Traveler, and John Brown Media. He’s also coached Little League baseball, hung out with Jesse Jackson, and spent a lot of time at Harvard — which must mean he’s getting smarter, right?
