Trips: Saint Louis
While in town to conduct a master class on magazine making at Washington University in St. Louis, I made the obligatory pilgrimage down to the banks of the Mississippi River to try to capture the Gateway Arch in a way that nobody before me ever had. Welp.
Trip Notes

Where We Stayed
The Moonrise Hotel, located in what’s probably the best neighborhood in town, the Loop — St. Louis’s nightlife and dining district — features a mid-rise rooftop bar with vast views over WashU and extending towards downtown. Inside you’ll find quite a bit of curvaceous mid-century modernism. Fun is probably what separates the Moonrise, and other Midwestern boutique hotels, from their cousins on the coasts.

Where We Ate
Charlie Gitto's On the Hill: Two words: Toasted Ravioli. You can thank me later.
∏ (Pi) Pizzeria: Not a bad pie, and right across the street from the hotel.
Sugarfire Smokehouse: Local chain with those good St Louis ribs.

Getting Around
This was a business trip, which meant pretty intensive focus on the job, so I didn’t get to see much of the city (though I saw enough to know I’d like to go back). I did rent a car, but it ended up not being necessary. Most of my time was spent on the WashU campus and the Delmar Loop, which meant I could finally take the opportunity to get around by scooter. Which I did. And I loved it. So much fun.
